Boosting Financial Literacy: ABA contributes $5,000 to SOSORO Museum to host free visits for students
31/Jul/2024
ABA Bank, the largest commercial bank in Cambodia1, proudly contributed $5,000 to the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money (SOSORO) through the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC)'s "Banking Sector Program for Economic Literacy" project.
This collaboration aims to provide Cambodian students access to SOSORO's permanent and temporary exhibits of monetary artifacts, modern and interactive spaces for audiovisual displays, and engagement with experts to deepen their understanding of the country's nearly 2,000-year economic history. Students can then leverage their engagement with this cultural heritage to transform practical experiences into valuable opportunities for education and research.
On 31 July 2024, ABC and the SOSORO Museum organized a visit for 250 students and the ABA team to gain valuable insights into the country's intricate financial system, monetary history, and currency evolution.
"Acknowledging one's history, including within the financial sector, is essential. Through this support, we aspire to empower students to explore and appreciate the depth and complexity of their monetary past," stated Igor Zimarev, Chief Marketing and CSR Officer of ABA Bank.
"We would also like to extend our appreciation to the National Bank of Cambodia for its pivotal role in preserving and establishing a prominent museum for future generations and ABC for initiating such projects to provide students with a unique and hands-on experience," he added.
ABA Bank remains steadfast in its mission to empower Cambodian youth, encouraging them to delve into their monetary heritage. Educational initiatives focusing on financial literacy align with the bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework to build a stronger, more financially inclusive community.
We encourage everyone to visit the SOSORO Museum and embark on this enriching and engaging journey.
